0.4.0 - The Dark Forest Awakes

About Revila
Revila combines tactical solitaire gameplay with deckbuilding strategy and is currently in early development. This version is a vertical slice - limited scope, but showcasing the core gameplay loop. You can expect:
- A Dark fantasy world with hand-drawn cards
- Unique card decks for each chapter
- Procedurally generated runs with multiple stages and boss battle
- A bunch of enemies and reward cards waiting to be explored
We have tons of ideas for the future of this game and feedback is expressly welcome - your input helps us enormously.
Thanks for playing! We hope you will enjoy the ga…
...okay...we have to hand over to our manager:
"Dear stakeholders, investors, KPI lovers and ROI hunters,
Today the time has finally come: after an intensive two-year investment phase, we are launching our first product - a so-called “indie” game. But don't be fooled by the classification: Behind this project is a highly efficient, leanly optimized human capital construct with a clear objective of revenue growth, player retention and long-tail monetization. Our team consists of exactly 3.25 FTEs (full-time equivalents) in the development phase. Let me break this down briefly:
A developer who has been operating on the principle of Remote First, Office Never since the start of the project. Between caffeine and chaos, he has managed to build a functioning tech stack that is 87.3% bug-free - somehow. In addition, he delivers inconsistent delivery communication with a high legacy code density. The market is empty, we have to work with what we can get.
A designer in love with detail to the point of self-sabotage. Instead of AI-supported asset pipelines, he insists on manual artwork production - pixel by pixel, frame by frame, click by click and button by button, constantly refusing all shortcuts. The result: he produces something or other visually, at an hourly wage below the pain threshold. The productivity: low, the output: aesthetically okay. Replaceable.
Then there's our 0.25 FTE working student resource in the Data & Balancing department - officially responsible for adjusting game time parameters in Excel spreadsheets. Does something with data, dashboards or something - to be honest, no one really understands it. But as long as the KPIs are right and the CFO smiles at the hourly rate, it works for everyone.
Last but not least, let’s talk about our audio vertical – covered by a loosely affiliated creative contractor with a deep background in festival-based networking. Officially our Sound Designer, unofficially a full-time backstage pass holder at festivals with names like “Meissen-Moscht” or something else. His deliverables? Ambiguous. His presence in team meetings? Liminal. But rumor has it he once recorded a footstep in a forest, processed it through analog tape, and called it a boss theme prototype. Whether this will ever make it into the game remains unclear – but his soundcloud-profile had great vibes.
Launch: focus on monetization & growth loops
Now that the product has entered the market, we are clearly focusing on the monetary target figures: Conversion rate: highly scalable; daily active users: incoming; play time per session: work in progress, but our working student has already prepared a heat map in PowerPoint format or something like that. Our launch is more than just a milestone - it's a market entry event embedded in a long-term brand-building strategy. If sales don't increase exponentially in the first three months, we at least have a good reason to pitch a pivot.
Next Steps (aka synergies & scaling)
We are in a phase of strategic horizon expansion with a focus on sustainable value creation and targeted scaling architecture. Through holistic alignment processes, KPI-driven iteration loops and a clearly focused growth mindset, we are creating a scalable operating framework that enables both quick wins and long-term impact. The roadmap? Ambitious. The resources? Fragile. The narrative? Scaling through structured ambiguity.
Finally, I would like to thank all stakeholders - including the emotional ones - and don't forget: it's not about the game, it's about the game behind the game.
Your CEO, CFO, CMO, COO and founder in one"
